FINE WINE
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
At five o’clock, I’m on a kick,
I don’t want coffee, don’t want tea
Up on a shelf - what do I see
A fine red wine waiting for me
Fine wine, fine wine, fine wine, REPEAT
I start cooking up some food
The aroma smells so good
Better wait – I know I should
I can’t resist, I wish I could
Fine wine, fine wine, fine wine, REPEAT
You can try the wine you please:
Chardonnay or Pinot Gris
Pinot Noir, Rosé, Merlot
Sauvignon, Malbec, Bordeaux
Riesling, Shiraz, Zinfandel
All will go down very well
Some are dry, some are sweet
They go with everything you eat
Maybe I should go to France
To sample wines and find romance
Or maybe go to Italy
And sip my wine in Capri
Fine wine, fine wine, fine wine, REPEAT
But fine wine is very near
In the Western Hemisphere
California, here I come
Washington and Oregon
Fine wine, fine wine, fine wine, REPEAT
I like your flavor rich and round – not too tart and not too sweet
I like your tannin, not too dry – so you’ll go well with what I eat
Fine wine, etc.

DAY TRIP TO MARTHA’S VINEYARD
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
She is on the ferry bound, heading for Oak Bluffs town
Crossing over seas of blue, waiting for a glimpse or two
Cousins meet her at the dock - fun times are starting to rock
She’s where she wants to be – reunited with her family
Winding down the quaint main street, gingerbread houses compete
Relaxing in the ocean air - there's no pressure to be anywhere
Vineyard Haven’s not far – they have lunch at the Black Dog bar
Together with her family, going on a shopping spree
SUMMER, LAZY SUMMER, YOUR DAYS REALLY FLY
IN JUNE, IT’S HELLO, IN AUGUST IT’S GOODBYE
They make a stop in Edgartown, where Captain's homes abound
And take a walk along South beach and listen to the seagulls’ screech
They head back to West Tisbury for champagne, crackers and brie
Together with her family, they're nurturing the family tree
They talk about everything; she plays guitar, they sing
It’s great that they can share this way; it feels right, and she wants to stay
But the time has come to go, and August traffic is slow
She must leave her family, and their kind hospitality
SUMMER, LAZY SUMMER,. ETC.
She is on the ferry now - but she’ll be back again
The journey doesn’t take that long - it’s been great to see her ken
Thanks to dear, old Martha and her beautiful Vineyard isle
The memories she creates will last a long, long while
If the weather’s clear in Newport, one can see the Gay Head light
When the last ray is fading and day’s moving into night
The island is a temptress, calling you to come back
Stuck and playing in your head like a familiar sound track… Summer, lazy, etc

LEMONADE
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
Life’s full of problems, we must overcome
Nobody keeps me under their thumb
Huff and puff, you won’t blow my house down
Yell and scream, I will still hold my ground
If you throw a curve ball, aimed right at me
I’ll bat that ball into infinity
Put up walls, I’ll knock ‘em down
Have a party and invite the whole town
REFRAIN: If you give me lemons, I make lemonade,
Toss me a lemon, I make lemonade
You know those yellow fruits that are tart to eat
I turn them into something sweet
If you give me lemons, I make lemonade
Fool me once, shame on you,
Fool me twice, shame on me
I’m a quick study – try me and see
Words are important, gotta’ mean what you say
But it’s actions that count, anyway
Just give me the lemons, I’ll make a sorbet
REFRAIN
Gonna’ let nobody make me feel sad
Gonna’ let nobody make me get mad
Gonna’ let nobody get in my way
Just try it, come on now, make my day!
REFRAIN
Come on, give me lemons, I'll make lemonade,
Toss me some lemons, I'll make lemonade, etc.

I WANT MY LIFE BACK
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
I’m tired of computers that are breaking down
I’m fed up with remotes that can’t be found
I’m sick of machines that I’m addicted to
There’s more in life I want to pursue
I’m bored with the ads that they target at me
Hopin’ to sell me stuff I think is crappy
I’m wastin’ my time so frivolously – It’s time to shut it down!
I’m mad about the Russians meddling in my life
I want my identity to survive
I’m stressed out by all of the breaking news
Anchors and talking heads get me confused
I don’t want politicians tellin’ me how to vote
Or lose weight programs designed for my bloat
I’ve had it with machines – they really get my goat – it’s time to shut it down!
REFRAIN: I WANT MY LIFE BACK, 3 more x's
Bridge: Maybe I’ll create a new reality
Away from keyboards, unshackled and free
I'll swim to the buoy and lie by the sea
And study clouds and write my own poetry
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, etc.
Don’t want carpal tunnel in my hand
I’ll get up from the screens and I’ll take a stand
Turn off distractions that are at my command – it’s time to shut it down
For all of you out there that want to find a way
To slow the high speed that we run to each day
This song is for you – it’ll be OK – it’s time to shut it down!
I WANT MY LIFE BACK, etc.

EACH YEAR TOGETHER WE GROW
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
When I get home at night, I wonder where you are
Even if I’m mad at you, I want you to know
That I’m glad to see you
Moods pass like the clouds
I hope you feel the same way too
Sometimes when we argue, I get fierce
You know how to humor me, I turn away
So you won’t see my smile
Moods pass like the clouds
I’m back to normal in a short while
REFRAIN: A glass of red wine in front of a fire
We are getting cozy, sitting side by side
The sun has just gone down, but the night has just begun
We ebb and flow just like the restless tide
We’re full and wane like phases of the moon
We’re calm and blustery like the fickle winds that blow
Look at us, together we grow
Each year together, each year together
Each year together we grow
Each year together, through the changing weather
Each year together we grow each day
Each year together we grow
When I forget my thoughts, you’re standing by
You help me fill in the blanks - I do the same for you
We complement each other
But we’re different, just the same
Each day we discover something new
I like to see my world through your eyes
You see what I often miss, I like your point of view
You enrich my life, there’s much I want to learn
I am better when I’m with you

LOVE SONG to CUBA
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
I’ve heard about you for all of my life
Finally, I’ve come to your shore
This beautiful island, all the people I’ve met
Have left me wanting more and more
REFRAIN: Cuba, Cuba-Cuba
Cuba, Cuba-Cuba
Cuba, Cuba-Cuba
Cuba, Cuba-Cuba
I’ve seen your cities, and country and hills
Royal palms and tall Ceiba trees
I’ve lain on your beaches, drunk your mojitos on the sand
Next to your turquoise-blue seas
REFRAIN
LA, LA, LA, LA. etc
Rhythms surround me – the drums and guitars
Trumpets and sweet melodies
I’ve learned your movements, your shimmy and shake
I dance salsa, wherever I please
REFRAIN
Cuba, I've come to your shore.
You've given memories that will last forever more
Cuba, te amo, te amo, je t'adore
You'll stay in my heart forever
Cuba, I love to come back to Cuba

YOU, YOU, YOU
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
Sometimes I lie awake and wonder
Where have my dreams gone from the past
I close my eyes – who should appear
But you, you, you
I know that we are bound together
Maybe our paths will cross again
Somewhere, somehow, a way will appear
Back to you, you, you
Back to you
Fragments of the past
A puzzle in the making
Putting all the pieces back in place
A colorful mosaic of moments and memories
Of my times together with you
What will become of the future?
Our time on earth will end one day
Is there a place where I can go
To find you, you, you
Repeat verse one
It's you, you, you,you
Always you, you, you
You, you, you

Guess I've Got the Music in Me
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
What are the words to this song
Can’t remember, I’ll hum along
And keep dancing to the 4/4 beat
Wavin’ my hands, an' movin’ my feet
Music carries, carries me away (Repeat)
It’s Friday night - I am pumped
No work tomorrow, no mid-weak slump
Got 2 days to celebrate
Stay up ‘til dawn and sleep in late
Music carries, carries me away (Repeat)
REFRAIN: I’ll follow the Pied Piper anywhere
I’ll swim with the Sirens of the sea
I’ll skip with Munchkins down the yellow brick road
Guess I’ve got the music in me
I’ll let Fred Astaire twirl me on the floor
I’ll sing in the Alps with the Von Trap family
The sound of music sets me free
Guess I’ve got the music, guess I’ve got the music in me
The DJ’s playing an 80’s tune
I first heard it in Cancun
The floor is shaking, the club’s alive
It’s gettin’ crowded, but I will thrive
Music carries, carries me away
I know the year I heard each song
Each memory is very strong
Music marks times in my life
Cuts to the core, just like a knife
Music carries, carries me away (Repeat)
REFRAIN
Guess I've got, guess I've got the music in me
Guess I've got, guess I've got the music in me

I WILL TRY
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
Do I wait forever, put my plans on hold?
Why should I expect a change at all?
If we can’t come together
And get it right this time
Maybe it’s just not meant to be at all
REFRAIN: I will try, I will try, try with all my might
To be good for you
The only thing, the only thing, the only thing I ask is
Will you do this too?
BRIDGE: We don’t have to be alone when we walk through the night
We'll comfort one another and turn darkness into light
None of us can be an island standing on their own
I will comfort you – just pick up the phone
We are quite unique, but we’re also alike
Sharing the same earth for the time being
Two flowers in a garden, called by a different name
Living to survive, hoping to thrive
REFRAIN: I will try, I will try, try with all my might
To be good for you
The only thing, the only thing, the only thing I ask is
Will you do this too? REPEAT

I’M SORRY
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
I let you down, I left you flat
I walked out the door and that was that
And baby, I was done with you!
I wonder now what went on
I’ve come to the conclusion that I was wrong (uh-oh)
And now, I’m wondering what to do
REFRAIN: I’m sorry, so sorry, so sorry,
For all of the for that things that I put your through
I’m sorry, so sorry, so sorry,
I was wrong, and now I’m missing you
Why did we fight, I don’t know?
All these feelings just come and go
Tension, as minor gripes accrue
The tip of the iceberg’s the starting place
We need to work down to its base
Unravel each other one’s point of view
REFRAIN: I’m sorry, so sorry, so sorry,
for all of the things that I put your through
I’m sorry, so sorry, so sorry,
I was wrong, and now I’m missing you
I was stupid to leave so fast
I expected romance that could not last
Here’s hoping we can set things right
Will you take me back again?
I wanna’ be with my best friend
Come over, I’ll cook you dinner tonight
REFRAIN: I’m sorry, so sorry, so sorry,
For all of the things that I put you through
I’m sorry, so sorry, so sorry,
I was wrong, and now I'm missing you – now I'm missing, you

GO GRANNY, GO!
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
I wake up in the morning and can’t get out of bed
These sure ain’t sugar plums dancing in my head
I sip my morning coffee and keep the shades all drawn
Don’t want nobody peekin’ inside from my lawn
I turn on the big TV and watch a lot of news most of the day
After lunch, I lie down to take a little nap and dream away, I dream away
The grand kids come on over after school is out
Their energy is crazy, they’re jumping all about
I fix them up some snacks and have my cup of tea
For some silly reason, they like my company
They urge me to get up and play out in the yard when there is sun
I have to admit, once I am outside, it’s lots of fun – it’s really fun
REFRAIN: And they say go Granny go, go Granny go
Look you can do it, you’re rockin’ the show
And they say go Granny go, go Granny go
This is my life, and I love it so
To keep up with the bills comin’ at me every day
I do a little gambling – that’s my form of play
I like to go to bingo, play bridge and take a walk
I don’t get too far, just around the block
On Saturday nights, all the seniors like to gather at the hall
We listen to some music, dance around the floor and have a ball – we have a ball
REFRAIN 2 x's
Go Granny, Go Granny, Go Granny
Go Granny go, Go Granny go , Go Granny go REPEAT 2 lines
Come on Granny, you can do it
You're rocking the show, Granny
Go Granny go, etc.

NOW THAT IT'S OVER
Music and Lyrics ©2019, Terry Taffinder Grosvenor
R&T Grosvenor Publishing
Though I know we come from different worlds
A million miles apart
All I have to do is hear your voice
It cuts through to my heart
You were here with me but now you’ve gone
I feel so empty inside
I wish you could come back to me
To make me feel alive
REFRAIN: I sit by my window watching the clouds passing by
I listen to music we shared; it makes my cry
All this feeling is heavy inside me but what can I do?
Wherever you are now, I still love you.
Though I know we’re not together now
We’re really not apart
You’re in my thoughts and all our memories
Are carried deep in my heart
As I loved you, so I miss you now
It doesn’t go away
No links of time will ever change my dream
To be with you one day
REFRAIN: I look up at the stars and I find myself calling your name
I’ve searched people’s faces for you but they’re never the same
All this feeling is heavy inside me but what can I do
Wherever you are now, I still love you
I see you on the street, but then I realize
The person looks like you, with someone else’s eyes
I sense you in a snowflake that lands on my nose
You whisper to me in the gentle wind that blows
When a dove comes a calling and sits outside my door
I feel you’ve come to tell me, “Don’t be lonely anymore"
I fell you've come to tell me, "Don't be lonely anymore."
