Mr. Platypus 03:00
THE PLATYPUS SONG Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing Hey, hey, Mr. Platypus It’s your nose we must discuss Does it so embarrass you? Not to look as others do? Do the turtles and the frogs Sitting in their slimy bogs Laugh and chuckle on the sly, Every time that you swim by? HEY, HEY, MR. PLATYPUS YOU’RE NOT LIKE US, YOU’RE NOT LIKE US BUT WE LIKE YOU ANYWAY MR. PLATYPUS Under your furry coat so lush How can we tell if you ever blush? With a beaver tail and a puddle duck snout Nobody’s sure what you’re all about Nosing along the river bed You push those rocks with your head And find food in the oddest place You’ve got such an unusual face Chorus We’re not making fun of you We love to watch all the things you do We like your looks and your funny name We know you’re wild, but we wish you were tame (we love you) Mr. Platy-platy-platy Mr. Platy-platy-platy

PINK FLAMINGOS Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing Pink flamingos did a fandango To a fascinating rhythm Flamboyantly they moved across the floor They did spins and fancy footwork Dancing steps of sheer fantasia So fabulous, the crowd cried out for more... and more! One said to the other, you’re so exotic. Your feathers tickle my funny bone. I can’t imagine my life without you, I would be lost and all alone. Musicians played a tingo-tango Wearing shirts of green and mango The melodies they played were all tiptop The palm trees softly waved their long fronds Happy fishes jumped in blue ponds And everybody hoped they’d never stop, please, don’t stop! Back and forth and round and round Webfeet barely touched the ground Pink flamingos danced on through the night A full moon hung low in the sky Bright stars twinkled up on high No other night had ever been so right, so right, so right! Face to face the pink flamingos tapped their beaks And flapped their feathers Feeling frisky fine and fancy free They danced ‘till dawn, then fell asleep And formed a pink flamingo heap Of happy birds and dreams of whoop-te-dee One said to the other, you’re so exotic. Your feathers tickle my funny bone. I can’t imagine my life without you, I would be lost and all alone. (repeat)

Ramona the Ray Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing Gonna' sing a little song about Ramona the ray She's a pretty girl who likes to swim all day When she cruises by, all the fish say There goes Ramona the ray She say's "hi" by flapping her wing She knows she's a pretty thing With her moves and her graceful style She drives all the boy rays wild and they say There goes sweet Ramona, sweet Ramona Ramona the ray, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah There goes sweet Ramona, sweet Ramona Ramona the ray, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah She Swims so free and she never stops Her wide body goes flip-flop She says “hello,” then she says “goodbye” And she’s gone – in the wink of an eye No one can catch her, though all the rays try When they hear her name, the boys all sigh One day, they hope she’ll settle down And make some lucky ray the happiest guy around And they say There goes sweet Ramona, sweet Ramona Ramona the ray, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah There goes sweet Ramona, sweet Ramona (Ramona, Ramona) Ramona the ray, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Sweet Ramona, swim my way Sweet Ramona, swim my way Oh, oh, oh, oooh-oh Sweet Ramona, swim my way Sweet Ramona, swim my way Oh, oh, oh, oooh-oh

THE PONY SONG Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing My pony moves along the trail As he walks, he swings his tail I hold the reins to lead him around My body goes up and my body goes down When I say whoa, he comes to a stop When I want him to go I say giddy-up He can be stubborn, but I make him obey I pat him on the back and he goes neigh Clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop Goes the trotting on the ground Clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop Listen to the horsey sound I give my pony lots of care I clean his stall and brush his hair If I hold out my palm to give him a treat He scoops it up with his big horse teeth One day I’ll learn to gallop and jump And I’ll feel what it’s like to go umpety-up But right now I like a nice, slow pace Sitting up high with a smile on my face Clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop Goes the trotting on the ground Clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop Listen to the horsey sound Listen to the horsey sound Listen to the horsey sound

ZOON, ZOON Based on a poem by Mildred Plew Meigs Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing Zoon, Zoon, cuddle and croon Over the crinkling sea, The moon man flings him a silvered net Fashioned of moonbeams three And some folk say, when the net lies long And the midnight hour is ripe The moon man fishes for some old song That fell from a sailor's pipe And some folk say that he fishes the bars Down where the dead ships lie Looking for lost little baby stars That slid form the slippery sky And the waves roll out, and the waves roll in And the nodding night wind blows But why the moon man fishes the sea Only the moon man knows Zoon, zoon, net of the moon Rides on the wrinkling sea Bright is the fret and shining wet Fashioned of moonbeams three And some folk say, when the great net gleams And the waves are dusky blue The moon man fishes for two little dreams He lost when the world was new And some folk say, in the late night hours While the long fin-shadows slide The moon man fishes for cold sea flowers Under the tumbling tide And the waves roll out, and the waves roll in And the grey gulls dip and doze But why the moon man fishes the sea Only the moon man knows Zoon, zoon, cuddle and croon Over the crinkling sea The moon man flings him a silvered net Fashioned of moon beams three And some folk say that he follows the flecks Down where the last light flows Fishing for two round gold-rimmed specs That blew from his button-like nose And some folk say, while the salt sea foams And the silver net lines snare The moon man fishes for cavern combs That float from the mermaids' hair And the waves roll out, and the waves roll in, And the nodding night wind blows, But why the moon man fishes the sea Only the moon man knows

Shining Star 04:45
SHINING STAR Lyrics by Terry Grosvenor & Bill Thomas Music by Terry Grosvenor © 1992 I met a man Who feeds the hungry. He is a super star To everyone Who takes their meals From the back of his car. His face is very ordinary And his hands are old. To everyone Who touches his life This is what they're told - Refrain: No matter who you are You are a shining star. You deserve all your Dreams to come true. No matter how far you fall, I will hear your call. I will always be right There for you. I had to ask him Why did he do this - Spend his nights in the cold And what he said Has never left me This man, this heart of gold. He slowly turned And with a kind smile, Said with dignity. They are all Somebody's children Just like you and me. Refrain: You are a shining star. You deserve all your dreams to come true. No matter how far you fall, I will hear your call. I will always be right There for you. I've met so many People like him, Who work with Love in their hands. The very simple Every day hero, Not the flashy brand. Now you won't see them On the TV, And money isn't why. It's what they do For you and me That makes them satisfied. Refrain: No matter who you are You are a shining star. You deserve all your dreams to come true. No matter how far you fall, I will hear your call. I will always be right There for you.

LITTLE DROPS OF WATER Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing Little drops of water Tiny grains of sand Become the mighty oceans And form the solid land So the tiny seconds Short as they may be Build the mighty ages Into eternity So our little errors Can lead our lives away From those who need and love us And build walls that block our way. But little acts of kindness And little words of love Can open eyes from blindness To see the stars above. Refrain: Everything we do or say Affects our world in a different way It's not too late to start today We can build a better world. From a tiny seedling Grows a mighty tree. From the thoughts of dreamers Comes a new reality. We're all here together In this time and space We need one another To make this a better place. REFRAIN: Everything we do or say Affects our world in a different way It's not too late to start today We can build a better world. We can a better world - a better world We can better world - a better world A better world - a better world, etc.

LITTLE JOHNNY SCAREY Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing Little Johnny Scarey was working in his lab last night It was way past his bedtime, so he worked by candlelight He took a little this, and he took a little that He mixed them all together in a great, big vat Crossing his fingers hoping things would turn out all right The slime began to bubble and oozed out something green It was getting bigger, and it looked a little mean It slipped like this and it shook like that Growing humongous in the great, big vat Johnny Scarey thought it was the weirdest thing he’d ever seen REFRAIN: “I’m going to get into big, big, trouble My parents think I’ve been asleep all along Look at this mess I've made in my room It doesn't look good - something's terribly wrong" The monster slid around and finally plopped down in a chair Johnny ran for the door, but a voice said, “You’re not going anywhere! You created me and now I'm here to stay. I eat masses of food and like to sleep all day Just bring me what i want, and I won't get in your way." Little Johnny Scarey was so frightened and full of fear He closed his eyes and wished the blob would disappear When he opened them again, he was sitting up in bed All this slime ball stuff had been a dream inside his head But a funny little song was still ringing in his ear REFRAIN: “You're going to get into big, big, trouble Your parents think you've been asleep all along Look at this mess you've made in your room It doesn't look good - something's terribly wrong" Repeat Refrain .

Once There Was an Elephant Based on a poem by Laura E. Richards Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing Once there was an elephant Who tried to use the telephant No! no! I mean an elephone Who tried to use the telephone (Dear me! I am not certain quite That even now I've got it right) However it was, he got his trunk Entangled in the telephunk The more he tried to get it free The louder buzzed the telephee (I fear I'd better drop this song Or elephop and telephong!) Now he’s all tied up on the telephone He’s all tied up on the telephone He’s all tied up on the telephone He’s all tied up, he’s all tied up On the telephone He’s all tied up on the telephone, yes, he is He’s all tied up on the telephone He’s all tied up on the telephone He’s all tied up, he’s all tied up On the telephone

Young Mr. Toad Based on a Poem by Laura Richards Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing Young Mr. Toad, he made his abode Under the garden wall He thought that he was fair to see Elegant, slim and tall He had a jewel in his head At least so several people said But since he had no looking glass He could not see himself, alas Young Mr. Toad, he left his abode Under the garden wall He hummed a song as he hopped along And wondered what might befall If I could but find a looking glass To see my goodly presence I then would dwell content and well Here in this leafy pleasance He met a snail and a twinkly tale And a slug which he promptly swallowed A dragonfly bright and a walk-by-night Which wriggled away when he followed He met a flea and a bumblebee And a cricket chirped in the grass But never sight or dim or bright Of ever a looking glass He hopped along but now his song Was checked full suddenly For he came where a pool was shining cool Under the bright blue sky He hopped to the edge and he sat on the edge And he looked in the water clear But what did he see, oh what did he see Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear For dapper trimness, for elegant slimness For jewel in the head A horrible sight, a perfect fright Did meet his eyes instead No high and haughty but knobby and warty The ugly image showed It looked, I tell you true it looked exactly like a toad

The Sandman 03:08
THE SANDMAN Anonymous Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing Go to sleep, darling one, dreams are on their way Sandman soon will say goodnight and end another day Rosy clouds float on air, the sun is going down Now the sandman's soft footsteps tiptoe through the town With a bag on his back and a shake of his hand He sprinkles on children his grains of white sand Blue eyes, green eyes, black eyes and brown They gently close when he goes through the town From a beach on the shore in a faraway land He rises at dawn to shovel his sand Silver buckets he fills and then stows them away Shining treasure he'll keep 'til the end of the day Blue eyes, green eyes, black eyes and brown They gently close when he goes through the town When the night comes if you hear the sandman's sweet song Do not dally and keep him a-waiting too long Close your eyes on your pillow, rest your little head And the sandman will come while you sleep in your bed Blue eyes, green eyes, black eyes and brown They gently close when he goes through the town Go to sleep, darling one Dreams are on their way Sandman soon will say goodnight And end another day

THE RAILWAY CAT Based on a Poem by T.S. Eliot Music and lyrics ©2015 Terry Taffinder Grosvenor R&T Grosvenor Publishing There's a whisper down the line at 11:39 When the night Mail's ready to depart, Saying "Skimble where is Skimble has he gone to hunt the thimble? We must find him or the train can't start." All the guards and all the porters and the stationmaster's daughters They are searching high and low, Saying Skimble where is Skimble for unless he's very nimble Then the Night Mail just can't go." At 11:42 then the signal's nearly due And the passengers are frantic, yes they are Then Skimble will appear and he'll saunter to the rear; He's been busy in the luggage car He gives one flash of his grass-green eyes And the signal goes "All Clear!" And we're off at last for the northern part Of the Northern Hemisphere! You may say that by and large it is Skimble who's in charge Of the Sleeping Car Express. From the driver and the guards to the bagmen playing cards He will supervise them all, more or less. Down the corridor he paces and examines all the faces Of the travelers in the First and in the Third; He establishes control by a regular patrol And he'd know at once if anything occurred. He will watch you without winking and he sees what you are thinking And it's certain that he doesn't approve Of hilarity and riot, so the folks are very quiet When Skimble is about and on the move. You can play no pranks with Skimbleshanks! He's a Cat that cannot be ignored; So nothing goes wrong on the Northern Mail When Skimbleshanks is aboard. Oh it's very pleasant when you have found your little den With your name written up on the door. And the berth is very neat with a newly folded sheet And there's not a speck of dusk on the floor. There is every sort of light - you can make it dark or bright; There's a handle that you turn to make a breeze. There's a funny little basin you're supposed to wash your face in And a crank to shut the window if you sneeze. Then the guard looks in politely and will ask you very brightly "Do you like your morning tea weak or strong?" But Skimble's just behind him and was ready to remind him, For Skimble won't let anything go wrong. You ought to reflect that it's very nice To know that you won't be bothered by mice- You can leave all that to the Railway Cat, The Cat of the Railway Train! You can leave all that to the Railway Cat, The Cat of the Railway Train.

about

Have you ever heard a song about a duck billed platypus, a manta ray named Ramona, or two flamingos doing a fandango? Sing, dance, and play along to this fun collection of toe-tapping tunes that are guaranteed to brighten up your day!

Terry Taffinder Grosvenor has written, arranged, and performed folk songs, pop songs, ballets, theme songs, and children’s music. To her, music is a mystery, and the creative process is a way to finally discover what has been waiting to be expressed; like many artists, often she does not know what she is going to create and has the feeling that it “flows through her” from some unknown place. Her songs vary in terms of tempo, mood, content, and world music styles, inspired by relationships, children’s poems, nature and animals, non-profit causes, and her travels to places such as Rio, London, Kenya, Tokyo, and all across the US. Now, with the Internet, her music has found a way to instantly travel to all of these places and beyond.
